Pushing the boundaries of what is possible, we are bringing carbon fibre products to the downhole environment.  Working together with a world leading carbon fibre manufacturer, we have developed a series of products for use downhole.

These parts are designed to order, benefiting from high collapse pressure and are completely drillable. 

We describe this as “steel replacement therapy”.   We are constantly evaluating material selection in the design of downhole tools with a view to improving performance with high-tech materials such as CFRP (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer).

Having a deep understanding of conventional downhole tool design criteria, we are able to assess whether components can be improved or replaced with the use of high-tech materials which would not previously have been considered or available.

CFRP is a non-homogeneous material and as such we can design the strength of the tool according to its operational requirements. This gives us the advantage of being able to ‘place’ the strength where it is needed and minimise unnecessary material use. The result is that we can produce tools which are stronger, lighter and more corrosion resistant than conventional steel tools.
